Candle & Wax Melt Safety: Heat, Pets, Kids & Surfaces
candle-wax-melt-safety-home
Home fragrance should feel relaxing, not risky. Use candles and wax warmers with clear space, stable surfaces, attentive supervision, and common-sense heat precautions.
Fragrance is part of the room, and so is heat
Lit candles and heated wax are active heat sources. Treat them with the same respect you would give any small appliance or open flame.
Keep a clear zone
Place candles and warmers on stable, heat-resistant surfaces with open space around them. Keep them away from curtains, paper, bedding, hanging décor, aerosols, and anything that can ignite or melt.
Never leave active heat unattended
Extinguish candles and turn off warmers before leaving the room for an extended period, going to sleep, or leaving home.
Think about paws, tails, and small hands
Keep flames, hot wax, cords, and warm vessels where children and pets cannot reach, bump, pull, or brush against them. A curious tail can move faster than a calm-looking candle flame.
Let vessels cool before handling
Glass, metal, ceramic, and wax warmer dishes can remain hot after use. Allow them to cool fully before moving, cleaning, or refilling them.
Use the product as designed
Use wax melts only in an appropriate warmer and candles only in their intended vessels. Follow the individual label instructions for burn time, wick care, and safe stopping points.
